Causes of stress?

Stress can be caused by a wide variety of factors and is individual to the person. People react differently to work and life pressures and sometimes it is a combination of a number of different things that lead to stress increasing and our ability to cope decreasing.

Personal stress factors can include moving house, bereavement, illness, money worries, insufficient time to achieve the things you want to do.

Poor working conditions, conflict with management and others can contribute to stress occurring. Sometimes it is the people around us who notice that we are becoming stressed by the changes in our behaviour.

Negative thinking Habits

We all have a running commentary of thoughts going through our minds every day. Some are positive while others are negative. When our minds are positive it uplifts our energy and we feel good and interested in events around us. However, when we focus on negative thoughts our body responds and our energy slumps and we feel tired and unenthusiastic about life. Negative thinking is only a habit and can be changed. The first step to changing negative thinking is to notice your thoughts and keep a record of them. You will then see your particular pattern emerging and you can then start replacing your negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
