Stuckism or all you wanted to know about art.

I was trying to write this article about this art movement and was so frustrated because it is a simple attitude. The idea was started as an art movement in 1999 and born out of an insult made by conceptual artist Tracy Emin to her then boyfriend Billy Childish. She was telling him off for working with figurative style because she felt it was finished and that 'unmade beds' were so in. And in writing a poem about the experience he used the word stuck. And so an art movement began. Together with Charles Thomson they have now an international following who feels that pro-contemporary figurative painting with ideas as the most vital artistic means of addressing contemporary issues.

At one time conceptional art was considered outside the realm of art and considered as avant guard but now they hold the power, they are now unconditionally accepted. In the driver's seat they have stated that painting is passed and that the current pretensions of so-called Brit Art, Performance Art, Installation Art, Conceptual Art, Minimal Art, Body Art, Digital Art, and anything claiming to be art which incorporates dead animals or the inner soul in torment using a pile of rubble but to be honest they are unremarkable and boring.
